The first hour included a rather tricky rough section above Gattières before we dropped down through suburbia to cross the wide river Var, the tram line from St-Laurent-Du-Var and the N202.
In Aspremont there was the pleasure of a quick drink – beer and coca cola before moving on to the next village Tourette-Levens. The next section to Cantaron is a bit more interesting and varied. For the six of us it was a bit of a route march to catch the train from the Drap-Cantaron railway station to Nice. Four of us made what we thought was the next from last train. However Kate and Stuart behind us found there wasn’t a ‘last train’ until later in the year. A timetable reading error. However, they have heartfelt thanks to the station master who drove them into Nice in his own car. ‘Fantastique et merci bien, Monsieur’.
This was a long section (at least 24km) for us with a late arrival in Nice. We stayed in the Hotel Helvétique, which was a 1km from the railway station, but close to the bus station. However, the bus station had been re-sited to allow fro the old one to be rebuilt.
We completed this section on 10th April 2011.
